Belem Abraham is a Chilean lyrical singer, she is a versatile mezzo-soprano who can perform roles in opera, chamber music, musicals and also lead religious services in song and piano and organ in different religions.
In 2013 she recorded her first album together with her singing and classical guitar duo “Encuentro de dos Mundos”, the album is entitled El Lado Violeta de una Conquista and spreads songs of Spanish and Chilean origin from the 19th and 20th centuries.
The album was distinguished with the CONARTE award and was released in Chile at the Entre cuerdas International Festival and on a concert tour in South America through DIRAC of the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Relations, in countries such as: Peru, Argentina, Colombia and Mexico ( 2015). In addition, the album was presented at the XXI Choroní Guitar Festival in Venezuela 2017 and in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2018, at the prestigious Fred Schneiter Classical Guitar Festival.
After finishing his undergraduate studies, she participated in opera competitions in Chile and also in Italy where she was semifinalist in the Concorso Internazionale per Cantanti Lirici Cittá Di Alcamo 2017.
In 2019 she travels to New York City for the Manhattan Opera Studio’s summer season to take on the role of Waltraute in Richard Wagner’s Die Walküre.
She appeared in two performances with the cast of this opera and gave solo appearances at Opera America theater and at Carnegie Hall.
During this period she participated in various singing and opera master classes with teacher Karen Huffstodt.
She has participated as a soloist in operas, such as: Carmen by Georges Bizet in the leading role (2017-2018), Acteón by Charpentier (2016-1017), Dritte dame in Die Zauberflöte by W.A Mozart (2015), María (premiere) Ópera María by Alfonso Leng (2017), Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Gioachino Rossini, Dorabella in Così fan tutte by W. A. Mozart (2018), Suzuki in Madama Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini (2016) Waltraute in Die Walküre by Richard Wagner (2019) .
She performed solo concerts in symphonic works and oratorios such as: Dixit Dominus RV 595 by A. Vivaldi (2016), Stabat Mater by G. Pergolesi (2017), Exultate Jubilate K 165 by W.A. Mozart (2017), Juditha Triumphans RV 644 by A. Vivaldi (2018) and Requiem K. 626 W. A. Mozart (2020-2021).
In July 2019 she performed a Chilean music concert with her classical guitar and lyrical singing duo at Microscope Gallery in Brooklyn, New York.
In 2020 she is awarded a scholarship and she participates in the Alexander technique online course taught by Adriana Mastrángelo and organized by the Argentine group Juventus Lyrica.
In 2020 and 2021 she participated as a soloist in collaboration with the choir: Voces de Chillán Ramón Vinay, in three online concerts presented in: Brazil and Spain.
In November 2021, she participated in the first Chilean opera album that he recorded together with the Ópera Nacional collective under the guide of artist Gonzalo Cuadra.
Religious services
Her childhood was connected with religious music, so that at the age of 5 she began to study music, singing and piano. This allowed her to study repertoire from various denominations; Jewish, Adventist, Catholic and Protestant.
She has directed religious musical services on piano, organ and voice in various religious congregations in cities around the world, such as: Italy 2017 (master class) with piano accompaniment, Tallahassee 2019 (religious concert), in Santiago de Chile, San Bernardo and Valdivia with music Jewish, and currently in New York, in religious ceremonies such as masses for the diocese of Brooklyn and New York and the El Tabernaculo Hebreo synagogue.
